Seven Continents Marathon Club
The 91 members of the Seven Continents Marathon Club are listed below.
The Antarctic Ice Marathon is the only marathon event within the Antarctic Circle on mainland Antarctica. The race is a full member of the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS). It is also recognised by Guinness World Records and the Book of Alternative Records for record setting purposes. Indeed, several people have set records using the event, including shortest duration for both male and female runners to complete marathon races on all seven continents and youngest male and female to run a marathon on all seven continents.
The Ice Marathon takes place approximately two thousand kilometres further south than other marathon events, which all take place in the South Shetland Islands area. It represents a truly genuine Antarctic marathon challenge.
People who have run the Ice Marathon in addition to marathons on all other six continents will be acknowledged via the Seven Continents Marathon Club.
Please note: Members of the Marathon Grand Slam Club, who have run marathons at the North Pole and on all seven continents (including other Antarctic marathons we recognise), are automatic members of this new Seven Continents Marathon Club. They have all run in true polar conditions. Also note that a marathon is not deemed to be completed on a continent unless the entire marathon distance (42.195km) is actually run on the continent - and not divided between two continents.
